Panaji, July 9 (UNI) Describing the Congress-led coalition government headed by Digambar Kamat as being in ''unstable equilibrium'', BJP Opposition leader Manohar Parrikar has not ruled out the possibility of forming a government after the ''current setup crumbles under its own weight''.

Interacting with mediapersons at the party headquarters here today, he said, the position of the incumbent government is such that a ''slight push or a wrong step may affect its stability at any time''.

The one-month-old government has always been on ''tenterhooks'' and may crumble any time under its own weight if one goes by the successive developments since the formation of the government on June 9, Mr Parrikar said.

He, however, hastened to add that he had ''no plans to make any effort at this stage'' or take advantage of the political realignment underway with the United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP).

The BJP, at present, will remain a responsible Opposition and play its constructive role while waiting for its turn to grab the opportunity, he said.

To a quesy, he quipped, ''If the Opposition does not bother about unsettling the government in power, who does it?'' He, however, offered no comments on the proposed merger of the UGDP with the Save Goa Front, which is headed by Congress rebel Churchil Alemao, saying it was their ''internal matter'', but it will have its impact on the coalition government and the Presidential election.

The Congress has a strength of 16 members in the 40-member House and is supported by the NCP-3, and MGP and independents with two each. The SGF with two members and the UGDP with one are supporting the government from outside. The BJP opposition has a strength of 14.

Earlier, Mr Parrikar flayed the government for its ''callousness'' in resolving people's problems. There have been over 600 cases of malaria in June this year and the disease has claimed eight lives. Besides, haemorrhagic dengue cases too are on rise but the health department has made no efforts to check the vector borne diseases, Mr Parrikar alleged.

The situation regarding drinking water supply was also very bad, the power supply was erratic, while prices of vegetables have soared, affecting the common man, he said. Road accidents, tourists drowning cases, and ''sex tourism'' are also on the rise, he said.
