HC asks NDTV to provide all details of sting operation
New Delhi, July 9 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today directed NDTV, which carried out an expose on the alleged prosecution-defence nexus in the high-profile BMW case, to provide all the details of its sting operation, right from the conception stage.
A bench of Justice Manmohan Sarin and Justice S K Misra asked the TV channel to present in court the entire sequence of events of the sting operation.
NDTV submitted three copies of the unedited CDs of the expose in court today as per the the court's directions.
The High Court had earlier taken suo moto cognizance of the incident and asked NDTV to submit all the records and original unedited CDs of the sting operation.
The private TV channel had conducted a sting operation showing witnesses were being influenced in the BMW case. The expose showed prosection lawyer I U Khan allegedly referring eyewiness Sunil Kulkarni to defence lawyer R K Anand.
Khan was dropped as the prosecution lawyer by the investigating agency following the expose.
The court also dismissed the petition filed by The Bar Association, seeking that journalits should not be allowed to report the matter while it was still in the court.
Sanjeev Nanda, along with four others, is accused of killing six people, including three policemen, on January 10, 1999, in a hit-and run-case.
