French tourist injured while photographing Ganga Ghats

Varanasi, July 9 (UNI) A French national was seriously injured seriously while taking pictures of the Ganga Ghats in Dashwashamedh area here today.

Joseppe Marthe Helene (47) sustained severe injuries when she fell from a height while taking pictures at the Ahilya Bai Ghat, police said.

She was rushed to a charitable hospital which referred her to the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) hospital.

The tourist, who is reported to have sustained greivous head injuries and a fracture in her left wrist is presently under going treatment at the Heritage Hospital, where her condition is stated to be out of danger.

Joseppe, a native of Verces-Allires-Et-Risset in France, was staying at a guesthouse at the Ahilya Bai Ghat for four days after visiting Kerala and parts of North India for six months. She was to leave the holy city later today.

The matter has been reported to the French Embassy in New Delhi.
