BHEL's participative culture pays rich dividends

New Delhi, July 9: BHEL's participative culture has paid rich dividends as the company saved Rs 177 crore in 2006-07 as a result of the implementation of the Improvement Projects Rewards Scheme.

During the period, about 9,500 improvement projects were registered, taking their number to 23,700 since the introduction of the scheme in 2005-06.

Nearly 63 per cent of these projects were completed and implemented, realising a saving of Rs 177 crore during 2006-07, and a total savings of Rs 398 crore since 2005-06, a BHEL spokesperson said here today.

In addition, implementation of employees' suggestions led to savings of more than Rs 21 crore during fiscal 2006-07.

During the year, 20,782 suggestions were contributed by employees, out of which 9,823 were found viable and were accepted.

BHEL employees' zeal to excel supported by the company's constant encouragement has also resulted in 52 of its employees winning a 40 prestigious Prime Minister's Shram Awards so far.
