94 gastro cases reported in a day in Mumbai
Mumbai, Jul 9 (UNI) Due to a sharp rise in water-borne diseases, 94 gastroenteritis cases have been detected at different BMC-run hospitals here in the past 24 hours.
Kasturba hospital received a maximum number of 39 patients, with complaints of fever and vomiting.
Apart from this, three dengue cases have been reported in the city with two patients being admitted to Sion hospital and one to KEM for treatment.
About 159 patients are undergoing treatment at the 24-civic hospitals in the city.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Kishore Gajbeye said, ''BMC is taking adequate steps to prevent the spread of diseases in the city and in chronic spots advanced steps like continuous fogging, cleaning, and distributing medicines are being undertaken.'' The BMC has detected around 3,000 cases of malaria and other related diseases this year in the various hospitals in the city.
According to BMC officials, since the onset of the monsoon late last month, around 490 persons tested positive for malaria across the city.
