West Bengal gets highest ever Japanese investment in India
Agartala, Jul 8 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee affirmed that Japan had invested the highest amount of money in the state in comparison to other states of the country.
Addressing a public rally, organised by the Tripura Left Front on the occasion of the successful completion of 30-year rule of the party in West Bengal, Mr Bhattacharjee said Japanese company Mitsubishi had invested a huge amount of money in Purulia and Haldia sector of Bengal for developing small and medium scale industries.
'' Apart from Japan, Germany and Russia are also investing in West Bengal and Russian Defence factory is coming up soon in a bigger way, '' Mr Bhattacharjee asserted and said an Ispat factory spreading over 4000 hectare of land was on the cards in West Midnapur district, while the total amount of investment will be Rs 35,000 crore.
He, however, expressed displeasure over the Opposition role in that development of West Bengal and said everywhere the Opposition was welcoming the developmental projects and came up with positive suggestions but in the case of West Bengal it was different.
Explaining the development in West Bengal during the Left regime, Mr Bhattacharjee said 68,000 primary schools were set up across the state where free education and mid-day-meal were being provided to the students.
Apart from that, the Left Front governments in Tripura, West Bengal and Kerala always emphasised on the health sector and more than 70 per cent people were still dependent on government hospitals in these states.
Talking about agriculture,, Agriculture Minister Naren Dey said the paddy cultivation in West Bengal had increased doublefold, while potato and other vegetables and horticultural productions increased about 60-70 per cent during the past three decades.
Besides, West Bengal Ministers, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Lok Sabha member from Tripura Khagen Das and veteran Communist leader and Tripura Left Front Chairman Baidhyanath Majumder also addressed the rally.
