Voting by secret ballot for union affiliation: Purohit

Tirupati, July 8 (UNI) Voting by secret ballot would be implemented in the affiliation of unions in the Indian Railways, All India Railways Federation (AIRF) President Umraomal Purohit said here today.

Addressing the press, he said a new railway federation was sponsored by the BJP during the NDA rule. But the Madras High Court declared it illegal while the Supreme Court ordered the conduct of vote by secret ballot for affiliating unions.

A committee then prepared a scheme for recognising a union through secret ballot.

Mr Purohit also opppsed the privatisation in Railways saying it would affect security.
