Support to Shekhawat was Chandra Shekhar's last political act
New Delhi, July 8 (UNI) A letter written by former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar from hospital bed expressing his support for Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat in the race to the Raisina Hill was possibly his last missive.
In his letter, the Ballia MP said he clearly, wholeheartedly and without any reservation proposed the name of Mr Shekhawat as the next President of the country.
''He combines a lifetime experience of a dedicated public servant with rare qualities of head and heart. A public figure of eminence, high repute and an impeccable character, Mr Shekhawat has discharged his responsibility entirely beyond party affiliations and with impeccable secular credentials,'' the letter read.
