'Sarpanch' accused of casteist atrocities

Nadiad, July 8 (UNI) A Marida village gram panchayat member has lodged a police complaint against the ''Sarpanch'' and ''Talati'' accusing them of subjecting him to casteist harassment during the panchayat meetings.

Nattubhai Dayabhai Harijan, in his complaint with the Nadiad rural police yesterday, said during the last two meetings this year, ''Sarpanch'' Vinubhai Shanabhai Chauhan and ''Talati'' Mangalbhai Chauhan had made him sit on the ground while others sat on the chairs.

He was offered water and tea in seperate vessels which were not used by others, he has said in his complaint.

The police have registered the complaint under the IPC and Atrocities Act.
