Rains claim 5 lives in Amravati

Nagpur, July 8 (UNI) Five persons were killed in rain-related incidents after overnight heavy downpour in Amravati district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra today.

Prakash Sheshrao Deshmukh (38) was swept away in river Chudaman in Warud tehsil this afternoon, and his body was found a few hours later, official sources said.

An aged woman, identified as Anusuya Tukaram Katole (70), was killed on the spot when a wall in her house collapsed in Bhatkuli tehsil this afternoon, the sources said. The body of a young man was found in a nullah in Badnera tehsil today, but his identity has not been established yet, the sources added.

A middle-aged man, identified as Anil Wardhe (45), was swept away in the Sapan river at Wasni village in Achalpur tehsil of the district, the sources said. Sukhadeo Narayan Ghom (55) was killed when his house collapsed in village Tongaon in Chandur Bazar tehsil of the district, the sources added.
