PMK chief calls for Cauvery Rights Protection Group
Chennai, July 8 (UNI) PMK Founder-Leader S Ramadoss today called for setting up of a Cauvery Rights Protection Group for ensuring justice to the people of Tamil Nadu on the issue.
In a statement here, he said, ''We have to setup a Cauvery Rights Protection Group where political party representatives, officials concerned and legal experts are members.'' ''If we all work together under this one umbrella, there is a chance of bringing justice on this issue.'' He made it clear there was no point in holding talks with Karnataka government on the issue as experience showed its futility.
As many as 35 meetings on the Cauvery dispute over the period of 30 years had failed to address the issue.
''Apart from this, even Karnataka Government did not accept the the recent final verdict of the Cauvery River Water Disputes Tribunal,'' he said adding, ''At this juncture there is no point in holding talks with the Karnataka Government.'' Dr Ramadoss said, ''It is high time that all political parties join hands in getting justice to the state by bringing the Cauvery water for the benefit of the people.'' UNI
