No patronage to corrupt officers: Badal

Chandigarh, July 8 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today asserted that no political patronage would be given to ''corrupt and inefficient elements'' in the bureaucracy.

The Chief Minister, while addressing a meeting of PCS Officers' Association here, stated.

''There will be a high premium on honesty, efficiency and commitment and there is absolutely no room for corruption, inefficiency and indifference'' he said.

Mr Badal urged the IAS officers to spearhead the government's bid to ''transform the face of governance in order to make it clean, transparent and totally responsive to the needs of the people.'' He said the state adopted a regimen of ''definite tasks and time frames'' and ''everything has a deadline.'' He said the government would move with reward and punishment policy, rewarding honest and efficient officers while not hesitating to punish lazy and corrupt officers.
