Man gets 7 years RI for raping minor

Nadiad, Gujarat, July 8 (UNI) A local court has sentenced a 25-year-old youth to seven years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a minor girl in February 2005.

Civil court yesterday held Bachu Ahmed Mallik guilty of the crime and awarded the punishment. The court also imposed on hima fine of Rs 2,500, failing to pay the amount will have togo through an additional simple imprisonment of four months.

Mallik, a married man, had seduced the girl on February 1, 2005, and took her for a ride to Kadi, Kalol, Mehsana, Abu and Ajmer in a stolen car. He then raped her and left her at Kapadvanj in Kheda district. The car belonged to one Chunnilal Goverdhan Patel.

The girl's father later filed a complaint against Mallik with Mehmdavad police, who registered a case against him under sections 363, 366 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), according to prosecution's case.
