Madurai Passport Office by Oct end: Minister
Tiruchirapalli, July 8 (UNI) Union Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed today said the Regional Passport Office at Madurai would be commissioned by October end.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the Madurai Passport Office would look after eight revenue districts carved out from the jurisdiction of the passport office, currently functioning here.
He said the Regional Passport Office at Coimbatore would be delayed as the officials concerned had not identified a site for setting up the office.
On regularising the services of casual labourers employed in the passport offices, the Minister said a decision on this issue could be taken only after the clearance of many cases pending before the High Courts and the Supreme Court in this regard.
