LG, Delhi Congress mourn Chandra Shekhar's death
New Delhi, July 8 (UNI) Describing former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar as one who had a sharp understanding of ground realities of Indian politics, Delhi Lt Governor Tajendra Khanna mourned the loss of a ''national leader''.
In his condolence message, the LG said Chandra Shekhar was committed to the higest principles of patriotism and safeguarding of national interests.
Expressing shock over the death of former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar this morning, Delhi Congress president Ram Babu Sharma said he was a committed and principled leader who never hankered after power.
A towering political figure who influenced the youth of the country through his inspirational leadership, Chandra Shekhar worked outside the ambit of ministerial trappings all his life, he added.
Meanwhile, in view of the week-long national mourning, the Lt Governor has postponed his 'press meet' slated for Monday, July 9, according to the official spokesman.
