Left hand of a villager chopped off, arms recovered in J K
Srinagar, July 8 (UNI) In a gruesome incident, unidentified people chopped off the left hand of a villager while security forces busted hideouts and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir ovenright.
An official spokesman said unidentified masked people chopped off te left hand of one Mohammad Afzal Sheikh with a sharp edged weapon outside his Berigam, Qazigund, house last evening. The injured was admitted to hospital.
He said security forces during a search operation near Line of Control (LoC) at Gogaldara in Kupwara recovered four AK rifles, one pistol, 15 magazines, 283 rounds of ammunition, eight IED circuits, 40 detonators, one hand grenade and several other items. The area witnessed a fierce exchange of fire in which four infiltrators were killed on July 5.
Police arrested a militant along with one pistol with magazine and one hand grenade at Sopore.
Police Commando Group (PCG) busted a hideout and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition including two hand grenades, two magazines, 30 rounds of ammunition and one wireless set at Trankhal in Doda district of Jammu region. However, no one was arrested.
