JD(U) President expresses grief over Chandra Shekhar's demise

New Delhi, July 8 (UNI) Janata Dal (U) President Sharad Yadav today described Chandra Shekhar as a ''crusader and a man with iron will'' who never believed in politics of compromise.

Mourning the demise of former Prime Minister here this morning, Mr Yadav said, ''Because of this uncompromising personality, he never joined any Cabinet as a minister.'' The JD(U) President said Chandra Shekhar was a ''fearless'' leader who never hesitated to come out openly on any controversial issue.

''When Emergency was imposed by the Indira Gandhi regime, he was one of its strongest critics,'' Mr Yadav said, adding Chandra Shekhar's demise was a personal loss to him.
