New Delhi, July 8 (UNI) Former Haryana chief minister and Indian National Lok Dal President Om Parkash Chautala today expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar.

Mr Chautala, who had been a close friend to the departed leader, visited the official residence of late Chandra Shekhar and paid his respects, by placing a wreath on the mortal remains of the departed leader.

''Chandra Shekhar was a son of soil, who never abandoned the concern for the poor and 'have nots'. He earned the name of a ''Young Truk'' for his conviction and courage. His contribution to Indian politics would always be remembered, '' Mr Chautala said, adding that the former Prime Minister made a mark among the public during his tenure as the country's Prime Minister and Parliamentarian.

''In his death, the country had lost an able politician, seasoned parliamentarian and a bold leader, who would be missed by his friends, colleagues and masses alike,'' Mr Chautala finally said.
