CPI(M) activists conduct hunger strike
Hyderabad, July 8 (UNI) More than 60,000 CPI(M) activists today pariticipated in a mass hunger strike, in 664 centres in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, demanding that the government should distribute house sites to the poor, living in slums.
Launching the mass strike at Indira Park here, organised by the party under the leadership of city party Secretary P S N Murthy, CPM Central Committee member P Madhu MP alleged that the state government had been allocating hundreds of acres of lands to the industries and real estate companies, without distributing lands and house sites to the poor people in the state.
Warning that the party would stall Assembly proceedings, scheduled to be held from this month end and organise chalo Assembly if the government did not concede their demands, he said the CPM would also call state bandh with the support of other opposition parties in future.
