BSF Court awarded life sentence to jawan
Agartala, July 8 (UNI) A Special Court of the Border Security Force(BSF) has awarded life sentence to one of its jawans for shooting his colleague from a service rifle nine months back.
The court announced the judgment yesterday against the accused jawans after hearing the case followed by the charge sheet filed under section IPC 302 and Arms Act 27 by the state police.
According to police, BSF jawan Binod Kumar had suddenly opened fire on his colleague Nandalal Roy in a bordering outpost along Tripura-Bangladesh-Mizoram boundary on October 20 last year and Mr Roy died on the spot.
Initially, Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Dharmanagar heard the case and finally it was shifted to BSF Special Court. The court awarded him life sentence as well as dismissed him from the service.
