Tirupati, July 8 (UNI) Five special police teams have been despatched to various places in Tamil Nadu to nab the culprits involved in yesterday's heist at Karur Vysya Bank (KVB) branch here, a top police official said.

Addressing a press conference, Rayalaseema DIG Jayaram Reddy said since the robbers spoke in English and Tamil, there might be a possibility of the culprits hailing from Tamil Nadu.

Hence, the special teams were depatched to the neighbouring state for joint operations besides keeping vigil on criminals in the Chittoor District.

Since the bank lacked any security set up like CCTVs or even alarms, a meeting would be conducted with officials of various banks on beefing up the security.

Two armed persons looted nearly Rs ten lakh from the cash counter of the KVB.

The unidentified duo, armed with a pistol, a double barrel gun and a knife, gained entry into the bank, threatened one of the employees and fled with the cash.
