Army to continue military operation in Manipur

Imphal, Jul 08 (UNI) '' The Army will continue normal military operations and the military strategies adopted in Jammu and Kashmir will not be applied to Manipur, the new GOC of 57 Mountain division, Maj Gen TS Handa here today said.

Speaking to media persons at Leimakhong military headquarters, the GOC said the situation in Manipur was different from JK.

The Army would continue the strategy adopted earlier and there would not be any change in policies with the change of the GOC, he added.

The cease-fire with some militant groups would also continue, he stated.

The relations with other forces and the state government were also cordial, he further said.

During last few days, the GOC had been touring Manipur to get stock of the situation there.
