Amarnath yatri dies on way, toll reaches 8
Srinagar, July 8 (UNI) A 35-year-old pilgrim from Jalandhar, Punjab, Sunita died on way to the holy Amarnath cave early this morning, official sources said.
With this a total of eight pilgrims and a local ponywalla have died and eleven others wounded during the start of the pilgrimage.
They said Sunita complained breathlessness at Zogibal on Pahalgam-Cave route early late last night. However, she suffered a massive heart attack and died before she could be airlifted to hospital.
They said a ten-year-old yatri Avinees Singh from Karoo, Rajouri, was killed when a speedy yatri bus hit him near a hotel at Sonmarg.
A woman pilgrim from Asom was killed and eleven others were injured due to shooting of stones near the Amarnath cave shrine on July 3.
