2 killed and 3 injured in a blast in Ajmer

Ajmer, July 8(UNI) Two people of a family were killed and three sustained burns after a blast ripped through a house in the Shastri Nagar area in the city early today.

Additional superintendent of police Lalit Maheshwari said the blast occurred in the residence of retired forest officer Naresh Gupta about 04 hrs. The blast resulted in the death of Gupta and his wife which left a large portion of the house collapsed. His three daughters, however, escaped with burn injuries.

Police after a preliminary investigaiton are of the view that the blast was ignited by a short - circuit of the electric lines which, in turn, resulted in the blast of the gas cylinder kept in the house.
