Orissa government to set up new IT park

Bhubaneswar, July 7 (UNI) The Orissa government has decided to set up a new Info Park in the outskirts of the capital city, Minister for Information and Technology Suryanarayan Patra told the Assembly today.

Replying to a question of Mr Utkal Kesari Parida (OGP), the minister said the government took the decision as it was not possible to accommodate the interested IT units in the existing Infocity.The proposed IT Park would be christened as Infocity-II.

Mr Patra said the state owned Industrial Development Corporation (IDCO) had so far identified 671.25 acres of land in five revenue villages such as Durgapur, Goudakasipur, Harekrushnapur, Arisal and Harapur in the Khurda district of Jatni tahasil.

While at least 600 to 800 acres of land was needed for the the Infocity-II,so far 401.123 acres of land had been handed over to IDCO,the Minister said adding that the new Infocity would help the IT students to shape their career and create employment opportunities.
