Mud-slinging on Presidential candidates must end: Badal

Hoshiarpur, July 7 (UNI) Disapproving of the constant onslaught on the UPA-Left Presidential nominee Pratibha Patil, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that mud-slinging on the nominees for the highest office of the country should be stopped.

''Once a political party has nominated a person for the election to the highest office of the country, levelling of corruption charges against him/her without solid documentary evidences should be avoided,'' Mr Badal said, while interacting with mediapersons at Jahan Khelan, about 8 Km from here.

When asked whether SAD (B) would stake its claim for the post of Vice President of the country within the constituents of NDA, he said that the matter would be discussed in the meeting of its constituents for chosing a consensus nominee.

Earlier, Mr Badal inaugurated a mutli-juicing mega plant of Punjab Agro Juices Limited at Jahan Khelan.
