Miscreants on motorbike snatch money from former Jute Mill employee
Barrackpore, July 7 (UNI) A gang of miscreants snatched about Rs two lakh in cash from a person from Anandapuri Road in North 24 Parganas this afternoon.
Victim Sushanta Banerjee, a voluntarily retired employee of Titagurh Kennisin Jute Mill, was returning home after withdrawing the money from a nearby bank when two of the gang members, on a two wheeler, snatched his bag.
A complaint had been lodged with the police in this respect, police said. Police had started preliminary inquiry into the matter.
Incidentally, the residence of a Kolkata Doordarshan employee was also looted on July 5 night in the same locality.
Looting and theft cases had became a regular affair in the subdivisional town, local people alleged.
