Thiruvananthapuram, July 7: Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee today said the double standards of the CPI(M) was exposed in Kerala with the party allowing V S Achuthanandan, who was suspended from the CPI(M) polit bureau, to continue as Chief Minister. ''It is a humiliation of democracy. People elect leaders who represent various political parties and I don't understand the logic behind a person suspended from the polit bureau is allowed to continue in the post,'' she said, while launching her campaign in Kerala against the CPI(M) seeking justice to Singur and Nandigram victims.

After presenting the victims of Singur and Nandigram before the media and intellectuals, she said her party was not against industrialisation. ''But we are fighting against the injustice being meted out to the farmers by the CPI(M)-led government in West Bengal. Even several months after the assault on farmers, action was not taken against the culprits,'' she added.

The fertile land in Singur acquired for Tata car project should be returned to farmers.

She alleged that the CPI(M), which once boasted of ideology, had now become anti-people and was only interested in amassing wealth.

While the CPI(M) celebrated its 30 years in office in West Bengal, people should know that during the period 40,000 people were brutally murdered by partymen.

Earlier, 70-year-old Narmada from Nandigram broke down while narrating her experience on March 14 when police and CPI(M) activists allegedly attacked them. ''I worked for the CPI(M) for three decades. Now, I am astonished to see how the party treat poor people. I am a witness to the brutal torture carried out by the CPI(M) activists.'' Another 45-year-old woman, mother of five children, alleged that she was sexually assaulted by three CPI(M) activists on March 14. ''I want justice. But I can tell you one thing that even if I am attacked again, I will not surrender my farm land.'' Several other victims, who were part of a 60-member team from the two West Bengal villages, also narrated their bitter experiences.

Communist Marxist Party leader and former Minister M V Raghavan also spoke on the occasion.
