Light rains hit Delhi bringing relief from warm, humid conditions

New Delhi, July 7 (UNI) Light rains hit the Capital this afternoon, bringing relief from warm and humid conditions in the city over the past couple of days.

The rains, accompanied by cool Westerly winds, brought down the mercury in Delhi by three degrees, to 34 degrees Celsius, providing some respite to Delhiites, who had been experiencing warm and humid conditions over the past couple of days.

Though only traces of rainfall were recorded till 1430 hours, the heavily overcast sky indicated the possibility of more rains later during the day or tonight.

The Weatherman has forecast some more rainfall at Delhi and other parts of Northwest India during the next two days.

Earlier this morning, Delhiites woke up to another sunny day, with some clouds intermittently appearing in the sky. The minimum rose to 29.5 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal.

However, as the day progressed, the sky turned heavily overcast.

The Met office has forecast a generally cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with possibility of few spells of rain and thundershowers.

After moderate to heavy rains on Monday and Tuesday, the capital has witnessed a warm and humid weather in the subsequent days with the maximum rising to 37.2 degrees C yesterday.
