Gujarat govt grants Rs 1 cr to Surat district
Surat, July 7: The Gujarat government has granted Rs 1 crore to the Surat district administration to meet the looming flood menace here.
The city had witnessed heavy floodings in August last year due to torrential rains and subsequent flooding of Tapi river as a result of alarming rise in the water level of Ukai Dam.
Similar situation persists this year too due to rise of water level and rain, thus flash floods cannot be ruled out.
To meet out any eventuality, the state government has granted one crore of rupees to the administration as a precautionary measure.
