Panaji, Jul 7 (UNI) Chief Minister Digambar Kamat has favoured framing of a new integrated education policy right from the primary level to develop skilled manpower for the industry.

He said there was a need for reviewing the industrial policy with Goa running short of skilled manpower. Suitable administrative reforms were also necessary to remedy the situation, he said.

Presenting ISO 9001-2000 certification to the Goa Small Industries Association at Porvorim yesterday, the Chief Minister further called for upgrading facilities at all the industrial estates.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary J P Singh asked the industry to come up on its own merits without looking for government grants or subsidies.

Stating that Goa does not require power guzzling and polluting industries, Mr Singh urged the industry to design new syllabi for meting the requirements of skilled manpower.

Power Minister Alexieo Sequeira was also present on the occasion.
