Effect of depression to remain till tomorrow

Kolkata, July 7 (UNI) People heaved a sigh of relief here today as the depression, causing deluge in the city for the past five days, moved away from West Bengal.

The Met department said the deep depression over the state had moved towards Jharkhand in a north-westerly direction yesterday and was now static at Chhattisgarh.

''The depression is now over Chhattisgarh with its centre at Ambikapur,'' the met sources said.

However, the effect of the deep depression would remain here for a day more with slight rain in the city.

The Met office also forecast heavy rains in Gangetic Bengal and its adjoining areas.

The people had been braving a tough situation following heavy rains that left the city inundated.
