CPI criticises Collector in-charge's remarks, burns effigy

Eluru, July 7 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI) workers today burnt an effigy of Collector In-charge V Durgadas here, in protest against his derogatory remarks on the Party leaders, following the arrest of CPI State Unit Secretary K Narayana.

The CPI workers led by State Secretariat Member of the Party K Subba Raju took out a rally from Sphoorthi Bhavan, the CPI District office, earlier in the morning. The rally went through the main fares of the town and culminated at the old bus stand centre where the effigy was lit.

He alleged that the police had fabricated illegal cases against Dr Narayana, under section 124(a) of IPC, which dealt with sedition.

Meanwhile, in response to the call given by CPI West Godavari Unit, the activists in Chintalapudi, Palacole, Narsapuram, Tanuku, Jangareddigudem and Bhimavaram areas burnt the effigies of Mr Durgadas demanding immediate action against him.
