Bhopal, July 7 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee has submitted a memorandum to Governor Balram Jakhar demanding a judicial inquiry into the death of a tribal in Jhabua district due to police gunshot.

State Congress President Subhash Yadav told reporters here today that magisterial inquiry ordered by the state government into the matter was not adequate.

Pointing out that police had registered an accident case under section 304 of the IPC in this regard, Mr Yadav claimed that the incident was related to murder and a case should be registered under section 34 and 302.

He demanded judicial inquiry into the matter besides registering of a case under section 302 against guilty police personnel and BJP workers involved in the crime.

He also demanded a government job for the deceased's wife and rupees five lakh compensation for her.

The Congress leader claimed that police caught Ramesh Vasunia in a false case, beat him up and shot him dead under pressure from some BJP workers. A case was registered 48 hours after the incident.

He said he had visited Jhabua in person and gathered facts related to the case.

A delegation led by him submitted a memorandum to Dr Jakhar informing him about the Jhabua incident and recent attack on church by Bajrang Dal and VHP activists in Rewa district.

The party demanded that the government take appropriate action in this regard.

He said a list of incidents against tribals and Christians was provided to Dr Jakhar. So far, 81 incidents of atrocities against minorities and dalits had taken place.
