BJP pursuing politics of vendetta : Congress
Dehra Dun, July 7 (UNI) Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee today flayed the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state for pursuing ''politics of vendetta'' in the name of rooting out corruption from the state.
UPCC Chief Harish Rawat told reporters here today that many Panchayat members and Pradhans of the party were being harassed and false criminal cases foisted on them. ''A message is being sent to them that be on the ruling party's side or face the music,'' Mr Rawat alleged.
The saffron party was creating a conducive atmosphere in its favour for the coming Lok Sabha and Assembly bypolls and local body elections in the state by purusing ''oppressive measures'' against the opposition, Mr Rawat charged.
''Chief Minister B C Khanduri should refrain from carrying out such measures under pressure from some quarters. It would adversely affect his otherwise good image,'' Mr Rawat said.
Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Harak Singh Rawat said no discussion was being allowed on issues which require immediate attention, thereby forcing the opposition to disrupt the proceedings of the House.
Meanwhile, Legislator from Chakrata constituency Pritam Singh, in whose constituency highest number of such cases were filed, refuted the Congress charge saying cases were filed only after issuing showcause notice to the people concerned.
