APCO nets above Rs 100 cr each in last 3 yrs
Vijayawada, July 7: The Andhra Pradesh Cooperative Organisation (APCO), providing marketing facilities to handloom products in the state, has fetched sales worth over Rs 100 crore in each of the last three fiscals.
Addressing a joint press conference here last evening, APCO board directors Y Kotamallaiah and Divi Rambabu said it had achieved Rs 100.27 crore in 2004-05, Rs 111.78 crore in 2005-06 and Rs 138 crore in 2006-07 as revenue.
The state government had introduced several welfare schemes and initiated measures to export handloom products to foreign countries.
The government had issued a GO making it mandatory to purchase all kind of uniforms in state government departments, municipalities and schools from APCO, as per a High Court directive, Mr Rambabu said.
The APCO had bagged an order from Medical and Health Departments to supply five lakh mosquito nets.
According to a report from Tirupati, the APCO has bagged supply orders worth Rs one crore from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for cottage bedsheets, towels and couple dresses for Kalyanamasthu programme this year.
