AP DGP denies arrest of Naxal leader

Hyderabad, July 7 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) M A Basith today denied the arrest of CPI (Maoist) leader of Rayalaseema division Rajanna alias Chandrasekhara Reddy.

Talking to newspersons here during the signing of MoU with the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) for providing computer education to police officials, he claimed that the police had not arrested any naxal leader Media reports had said that Mr Rajanna was picked up near Chittoor-Bangalore border in a joint action by police forces from Karnataka, Chattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.

Stating that the police had not arrested Rajanna or any other Naxal leader, he said the police would have produced the naxal before the court if he was arrested.
