All-party delegation to seek more relief from the Centre: Dy CM

Hubli, Karnataka, July 7 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today announced an-all party delegation would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh soon to seek additional relief to deal with flood situation in the state.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the delegation would also appeal to the Prime Minister to convene a meeting of Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Goa to settle the problem of Mahdayi Diversion Kalasa Bandori Drinking Water Project.

He reiterated that Congress President Sonia Gandhi should clarify her statement during electioneering in Goa recently that her party would not allow the project.

Tenders for works in non-forest area of the project had been called for and an appeal would be made to the Centre to permit the works, he added.

Mr Yediyurappa said the government would not allow Karnataka to become a ''home for terrorists.'' To a question, he said stringent action would be taken against anybody who indulged in the manufacture or movement of illicit liquor.

Earlier, a group of Congressmen were taken aback when Mr Yediyurappa took some Congress workers to task after they shouted slogans and attempted to gherao him at the airport protesting en mass transfer of doctors from Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here, saying ''the government has taken all steps for the development of the Institute.

''Even an aid of Rs 100 crore has been released. Why are you unnecessarily shouting,'' he questioned.
