All party delegation to seek addl. relief from the Centre
Hubli, July 7 (UNI) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yadiyurappa today announced that an all party delegation would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh soon to seek additional relief to deal with flood situation in the State.
Talking to newsmen here, he said that the delegation would also appeal to the Prime Minister to convene a meeting of Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Goa to settle the problem of Mahdayi diversion Kalasa Bandori drinking water project.
He reiterated that Congress President Sonia Gandhi should clarify her statement during electioneering in Goa recently that her party would not allow the Mahadayi diversion project. Tenders for works in non-forest area of the project have been called and an appeal would be made to the Center to permit the works, he added.
Mr Yadiyurappa said the government would not allow Karnataka to become a home for terrorists.
Replying to a question, he said stringent action would be taken against anybody who indulged in the manufacture or movement of illicit liquor.
Earlier, a group of congressmen were taken aback when Mr Yadiyurappa took some Congress workers to task after they shouted slogans and attempted to gherao him at the airport protesting against en mass transfer of doctors from Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here, saying "the government has taken all steps for the development of the Institute. Even an aid of Rs 100 crore has been released why are you unnecessarily shouting," he questioned.
