2 killed, 12 hurt in a mishap near Nagpur

Nagpur, July 7 (UNI) Two persons were killed and 12 others injured, two of them seriously, when the jeep in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck near here today.

The accident occurred when the jeep collided with a truck near the village Mendhe Pathar, about 70 kilometres from here, this evening.

The deceased have been identified as Namdeo Chavan (37), who was a police constable, and Ismail Sheikh (30), the driver of the jeep.

Police said the driver of the truck is absconding.

Those injured, including five women, have been admitted to a hospital here, the police said adding that the condition of two of them was serious.

The occupants of the ill-fated private vehicle were on their way to Nagpur to attend a wedding in the family.
