Water-borne diseases on rise in Nashik
Nashik, July 6: With the rains taking a breather, the incidents of people suffering from water-borned diseases like jaundice, gastro and typhoid are on the rise in the district.
On an average, 8-10 patients of various types of allergies, 3-4 patients of jaundice and typhoid have been admitted to government and private hospitals.
The number of people suffering from viral fever, diarrohea and gastro are also on the rise.
In Jategaon illage Nandgaon town, 20 patients of gastro were found. One of them died recently.
Due to waterlogging at several places, there is a rise in breeding of mosquitoes and flies, the carriers of diseases.
In Mukne village of Igatpuri taluka of the district, some patients of gastro were found.
Though the district administration with the help of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has initiated preventive measures to check the spread of diseases, the measures are inadequate.
The authorities have appealed to the people to take precautionary measures like drinking boiling water and avoiding consuming stale food. They have also appealed to the people to take immediate medical help in case they were being afflicted by any water-borne diseases.
