Vudweiser beer launched in India

Mumbai, July 6: US-based beer company, Budweiser in association with Crown Beers India Ltd today launched a range of beers in western and southern India.

''As the Indian market continues to experience tremendous growth, our goal is to position Budweiser as a leading brand in the premium and light beer category in India,'' CEO Stephen J Burrows said.

Budweiser will be available in 330 ml and 650 ml bottles.

Priced competitively at Rs 31 for the 330 ml bottle the company is hopeful of replicating its success in China. In 1994, the beer was launched in China and at present has 27 per cent share in the Chinese market.

Budweiser's launch follows a 50:50 joint venture's with the Crown Beers signed earlier in May this year.

The beer will be locally produced in Crown Beer brewery in Hydreabad which has a capacity to produce 500 thousand hectolitre of beer.

Depending upon the success rate in the first year of operations the beer will be introduced in other parts of the country in a phased manner, Mr Burrows said.
