Bhopal, July 6 (UNI) BJP President Rajnath Singh today alleged that the policies of the UPA Government had put the internal security of the country at stake.

Referring to increased terrorist incidents in the country, Mr Singh told reporters here today that the Union Minister of State for Home had given clean chit to Pakistan and did not wish to hold it responsible.

On the other hand, the Defence Minister had stated that the situation was serious.

He said these contradictory statements had posed a serious threat before the country's internal security.

''Indian currency notes are being published in Pakistan and being conveyed to India and other neighbouring countries. Terrorists are investing money in the market,'' he claimed, adding the situation could go out of hands if it was not effectively tackled.

The BJP President said his party would demand the Election Commission to call an all-party meeting to discuss holding up Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections simultaneously.

Under present circumstances, state assembly elections and by-elections keep on happening and it would be better that Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections were held simultaneously, he said.

Regarding the BJP's campaign against UPA Presidential candidate Pratibha Patil, Mr Singh said it would be wrong to allege that his party had unleashed an aggressive campaign against Ms Patil.

He said logical explanations to charges levelled against Ms Patil must be provided, as she was running for highest constitutional post.

Opposing the proposed statewise reservation to minorities, he said it was a ploy to divide the country and warned that the BJP would agitate in Parliament as well as in streets if the decision was not withdrawn.
