'Unemployment allowance created inefficiency amongst youth'
Lucknow, July 6 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today said the unemployment allowance scheme, started by the previous Mulayam Singh Yadav government, was scrapped as it was creating inefficiency and inferiority complex among the youth.
Replying to a question of SP member Mata Prasad Pandey, state labour and employment minister Vedram Bhati said the government has decided to provide job to the youths rather than giving them unemployement allowance to the tune of Rs 500 per month.
'' The allowance was only creating inefficiency and inferiority complex among the youths'', he said.
Criticising the previous Samajwadi Party government for ignoring the plight of the youths, he said merely 5.40 lakh youths were provided unemployment allowances against the total literate unemployed 32 lakh youth in the state.
Mr Bhati said such scheme should be stopped which cannot even cover one-fourth of the beneficieries.
