TDP misleading people on irrigation projects : Ministers
Hyderabad, Jul 6 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is resorting to mudslinging by levelling wild allegations against the ruling Congress that 'corruption' had taken place while awarding contract work for irrigation projects.
Addressing the press here today, Andhra Pradesh Major Irrigation Minister P Laxmaiah, Information and PR minister A Ramanarayana Reddy, Roads and Building minister Jeevan Reddy and Endowments minister J Ratnakar Rao, countering the TDP charge, said the government had taken up 'Jalayagnam' to provide irrigation water to one crore acres of land by the end of 2008.
Alleging that the TDP was unable to digest the progress taking place and misleading the people on the project works, they said irrigation water had already been provided to 12 lakh acres of new ayacut for the past two year and another eight lakh acres would be provided water during this year.
Stating that the government would not succumb to the 'blackmail' tactics of the TDP, the ministers said all pending projects would be completed at the earliest.
