Lucknow, July 6 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today accused the Opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) of creating a caste tension in the state on the name of Brahmins and Yadavs by targetting the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

Ms Mayawati, while replying to the general debate on the budgetary proposals for 2007-08 in the state assembly, said the SP was only trying to create a caste rift in the state by infusing confusion through wrong propoganda.

'' The BSP is working for the sarva samaj and there is no question of change in the ideology of the party after joining of Brahmin in the party fold,'' she said, adding that Dr B R Ambedkar was also not against the upper castes.

Taking strong exception to the comments of several SP leaders about the historic social engineering by the BSP which led to the landslide victory of the party in the assembly polls, the BSP supremo questioned that how can the SP leaders comment on the BSP's ideology when their own is based on ''mafia, money and goondas.'' Taking the name of leader of the Opposition Mulayam Singh Yadav, she said, the Opposition did not have anything to say against the government on the budget hence Mr Yadav did not speak a single word on the budget in the house. ''Other opposition leaders have made a mere formality by criticising the budget even without going through the budget proposals,'' she added.

Conspiracy has been hatched by the SP leaders to target the Brahmins by creating a rift with the Bahujan Samaj while trying to rake up false hue and cry over harrassment of the Yadav community, she said.

''The BSP will always look forward for better cordination between the Brahmin and Bahujan Samaj which will automatically lead to sarva samaj,'' the Chief Minister added.

Contradicting that Yadav police officers are being transferred from police stations, she said all due to their bad track record.

The BSP always gave importance to SC/ST, backwards and religious minorities and will initiate brotherhood between upper castes for the welfare of the society, Ms Mayawati said.

All government projects on the name of great leaders will benefit the sections of the society, she added.
