Solpur becomes first CFL village in Mewat

Hisar, July 6 (UNI) Solpur, a tiny village having 62 houses and 31 electricity consumers, has become first CFL village of Mewat district.

This has been achieved by way of a campaign by Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) to replace traditional incandescent bulbs with the compact fluorescent lamps.

A DHBVN spokesman said here today that the DHBVN official camped in this small village for a day on July 5 and persuaded the residents to conserve electricity by using CFLs in place of traditional yellow bulbs.

The villagers purchased 132 CFLs from the stall arranged by DHBVN and replaced all the incandescent bulbs in the village.

With the replacement of energy consuming yellow bulbs with energy efficient CFLs load on the 63 KVA transformer, meant for supplying electricity in the village, had reduced from 70 ampere to 40 ampere during peak load hours in the evening, the spokesman said.

With the drastic reduction in the load, the capacity of the transformer was sufficient for the load to increase in future and for giving connections to rest of the house-holds in the village.
