Riad at IAS officer's residence in DA case

Patna, July 6 (UNI) Sleuths of the special unit of vigilance today simultaneously raided six places of senior IAS officer of Bihar cadre and minor irrigation secretary S.S.Verma in connection with a Disproportionate Asset(DA) case.

The raids followed a move initiated by the Bihar government against corrupt officers under 'operation clean'.

Sources at the special unit of the state vigilance said here that the raids began at 07:30 hours. The sources said huge amount of cash was recovered from the residence of Mr Verma located at Rukanpura locality here. The exact amount recovered would be revealed after assessment.

The sources informed that apart from four places in Patna the sleuths were raiding the native residence of Mr Verma at Garha village under Nangram police station area in Lucknow district of Uttar Pradesh. Raids were also being conducted at Mr Vermas daughter's house in Katihar.

The sources further revealed that the two nursing homes and residences of Mr Vermas son-in-laws were also being raided.

The raid was expected to continue.The sources said Mr Verma, who was in Delhi, was now on way to Patna and some clarifications would be sought from him if required.

The sources informed that the DA case was lodged against him at the special unit police station of the vigilance on July 3.
