Rescue efforts continue for Suraj; hopes recede
Jaipur, July 6: Efforts continued today to rescue five-year-old Suraj from a borewell in Nimera village here.
Hopes of rescuing Suraj from 180-foot-deep borewell have receded as 43 hours had passed since he fell into the borewell on Wednesday.
According to police, the close circuit TV monitoring the well-being of Suraj had not been able to ascertain whether he was still alive. Oxygen was being supplied to Suraj through a pipe.
The army was also engaged in the rescue operations. JCB machines were digging out earth from the surrounding areas and the authorities were devising alternative strategies to rescue Suraj.
State ministers including education minister Ghanshyam Tiwari visited the site but had not been able to do anything concrete till now. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was reportedly monitoring the situation herself.
Rescue operations were hampered yesterday as a crane slid down the sand, seriously injuring a labour.
