Recognition for unions only through secret ballot: Basudeb

Hyderabad, Jul 6 (UNI) Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways Chairman Basudeb Acharia today said Indian Railways should accord recognition to the unions only through secret ballot and not on the basis of membership.

Addressing a press conference in connection with Committee visit to the South Central Railway (SCR) here, he said there was no correct system in the railways to accord recognition to the unions.

He said as per the Supreme Court order, a Committee had been formed to chalk out modalities for providing recognition to the unions by conducting secret ballot.

He said the court had given time till September this year for this purpose.
